Review: Garmin Nuvi 350

Garmin Nuvi 350 Pocket or Vehicle GPS Navigator with Integrated MP3 Player and Photo Viewer

I finally broke down and purchased the Garmin Nuvi 350 at BestBuy the other day. This consumer product is amazing, and well worth the money. Besides the iPod and Sony Wega LCD, the Garmin has to be best electronics buy in the past several years.

The Garmin Nuvi 350 is head and shoulders above its competition, compared to TomTom and Magellen. The others are bulky, and the power cords are the curly awkward ones that compare to the cords of an early 80’s telephone. The power cord on the Nuvi 350 is a thin straight wire that can easily be hidden from view. But this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of features this favored product provides. Its greatest feature is its turn-by-turn voice prompted navigation with its ability to speak the names of upcoming streets. As far as I can tell, it has a 5 hour battery life, which means I can take this with me as I walk. Other features I have yet to use are MP3 playback, Audiobook playback, and JPEG picture viewer.

The only drawback I have come across is that when you are enroute to a location and you want to change a setting, such as volume, or voice or something, once you go to change a setting, there is no way for you to get back to your map, you either have to “Detour” or “Stop”, either way, that is not intuitive.

All in all I give this gaget 4.5 out of 5 stars!

    Hi

I also got a Nuvi 350 and its quite easily to get back to the map - just press VIEW MAP again and it will take you back to your map - even while you are busy navigating.
Example :Lets say you are navigating and you dont like the voice of the person :
    Press Menu
    Press Settings
    Press Locale
    Change the voice
    Press Back
    Press Back again
    Press View Map
It will then continue on your route and navigation with the new voice. You dont need to press Stop or Detour :)
